Minnesota Vikings News

Looking for Minnesota Vikings news? How about information on how to bet on Super Bowl 2021? Minnesota Vikings kicker Dan Bailey has been a reliable kicker for most of his 10-year career. Mostly. Unfortunately, the veteran kicker wasn’t very reliable on Sunday, missing four kicks, including three field goals.

After the game, Vikings head coach Mike Zimmer said he wasn’t happy with Bailey’s performance. However, also expressed confidence in his kicker.

“I’m really disappointed,” Zimmer told reporters. “I have a lot of faith in him. Have a lot of confidence in him. But these last two weeks have not been good.”

A week ago, Bailey was the hero for the Vikings after making the game-winning 23-yard field goal in overtime. However, the team wouldn’t have had to go to overtime if Bailey hadn’t missed two extra points and a field goal. The circle of life.

Despite Zimmer expressing confidence in Bailey, he hasn’t been reliable of late. Making field foals he would usually make. Bailey couldn’t connect on kicks from 36, 54 and 46 yards out, while also missing the mark on a PAT, leaving him scoreless for the day.

If Zimmer is to be taken at his word, releasing Bailey won’t be an emotional decision.

“At this point in time we’re not really worried about feelings anymore,” Zimmer said.

With their loss to the Buccaneers, the Vikings are now 6-7, one game behind the Arizona Cardinals, who are in the seventh playoff spot in the NFC standings. Even though Zimmer came to his kicker’s defense, it will be interesting to see how long he remains committed to Bailey if he continues to miss kicks.

“If you guys want me to fire guys for making a mistake here or there, we wouldn’t have any players,” Zimmer said. “Let’s not put this all on Dan Bailey.”

Matt Nagy Not Worried About Job Security

Rumor has is that Matt Nagy should be worried about job security, however he is not. The Chicago Bears came into this season with high expectations after a disappointing 2019 campaign. However, they are 5-7 and in 10th place in the NFC playoff standings. Despite their record, head coach Matt Nagy said he maintains the backing of upper management.

“Yeah, I do,” said Nagy, when asked whether he still felt supported by the Bears’ front office/ownership.

Nagy added that he has not had any specific discussions with chairman George McCaskey or president/CEO Ted Phillips about his job security, but said that the lines of communication he shares with them and general manager Ryan Pace are open and strong.

“We all have a really good communication,” Nagy said. “I think that’s one of the things I know Ryan and I really appreciate from George and Ted is the communication process that we’ve used over the last three years. It’s very open. There’s a lot of listening on both sides and then there’s a togetherness and understanding the whys, I think.

Will Matt Nagy Coach Bears Next Season?

Matt Nagy In Hot Seat

“For myself, just speaking for me, when I have those conversations with Ted and with George, I just appreciate them being able to understand from my end and the things that we’re going through and how we do it. And then for me to be able to listen from their end, what they see, because that’s just so important to understand and hear that and be able to work through the pros and the cons that we talked about. That part I couldn’t ask any more for and I just appreciate that.

“And in regards to Ryan, when things are easy and you’re on winning streaks and things are going well the communication is always good. But when things aren’t going well, that’s probably to tell you the truth — like right now, when we’re struggling and we’re going through and we’re trying so hard to get things right because we care so much — the communication gets even tighter.”

Matt Nagy Calls Out Players after Loss to Packers

Chicago Bears head coach Matt Nagy wasn’t happy with the way hit team played in their 41-25 loss to Green Bay on Sunday and challenged the team to “wake up” and “have some personal pride” after the embarrassing loss.

“I know this: We better wake our tails up,” Nagy said on a Monday Zoom call. “Every freaking coach on the staff, every player, better wake up and start understanding where we’re at. Have some personal pride. Have a freaking sense of urgency. Know where we’re at. Have some pride into who we’re playing for and why we do this and then go find a way to win as a team. That’s my challenge to every single person in that building this week is that.

“Yesterday was flat-out embarrassing, and our guys know it. I’m not telling you something they don’t know. They know it. But we’re going to step up and all coaches, all players, and we’ve got five games left. For us, it’s our own personal challenge as to where we’re at and how we’re going to do this thing. But that performance yesterday is ridiculous and can’t happen, and obviously that starts with me.”

The Bears have now lost five straight games and gave their worst defensive performance of the season on Sunday night, failing to get a hit or sack Aaron Rodgers, who completed 21-of-29 for 211 yards and four touchdowns (132.3 passer rating).

“That’s not who our defense is,” Nagy said. “And our guys, they need to understand where we’re coming from with that and how we feed off of them as a defense. They’ve done a hell of a job all year long but yesterday was not where we need to be.”

NFL Week 12 Predictions

Ready for some NFL Week 12 predictions? One of the biggest games in Week 12 is Seahawks at Eagles. On Sunday, the Philadelphia Eagles suffered a 22-17 loss to the Cleveland Browns, which dropped the Eagles to 3-6-1. With quarterback Carson Wentz throwing two interceptions. Giving him a league-high 14 interceptions this season, fans once again called for their quarterback to be benched in favor of rookie Jalen Hurts.

After the game, head coach Doug Pederson said he is sticking with Wentz as his starter for next Monday night’s game against the Seattle Seahawks. Do you agree?

“If you get to that spot where you don’t start him or you bench him. I think you’re sending the wrong message to your football team that this season is over. And that’s a bad message,” Pederson said. “We have to work through this. When times get tough, sometimes that might be the easy thing to do.

“This sport is bigger than one guy. We all have a hand in it and we all have to fix it,” he said.

Wentz finished 21-of-35 for 235 yards with two touchdowns and two interceptions. Including a pick six. He was also sacked five times, one of which was for a safety.

Pederson said he did not consider benching Wentz on Sunday for Hurts, noting how close the Eagles were from making it a competitive game.

“The media, you guys can ask whatever questions you want. I know that’s part of the deal. It’s always a scrutinized position. Playing quarterback, and that’s what I signed up for when I came out and played quarterback going back to high school. Yes, I can take it,” Wentz said on questions about him being benched. “I can wear it. Are we playing as good as we can as a team? No. Am I playing my best football? No. There were some circumstances out there today that we left some plays out there on the field. We’ll be critical, we’ll go back and watch the tape.

“You guys can ask whatever questions you want, bring up whatever you want and for me, I’m just going to put my head down and go to work.”

Alex Smith Not Starter for Washington Football Team

Washington quarterback Alex Smith made his first start since he suffered a gruesome knee injury during the 2018 season. The veteran finished the game completing a career-high 38 passes for 390 yards in Sunday’s 30-27 loss to Detroit.

On Monday, head coach Ron Rivera said Smith could “possibly” be viewed as a long-term answer at quarterback for Washington.

“That’s something we as coaches and as an organization have to talk about most certainly if he continues to play at this level,” Rivera said.

With seven games left in the season, Washington has time to analyze and discuss its starting quarterback options. Second-year player Dwayne Haskins was the opening-day starter, but was benched after four games.

Kyle Allen replaced Haskins as the starter, but he dislocated his ankle in a Week 9 loss to the New York Giants, which opened the way for Smith to start.

Even though Rivera said Smith has proven that he is back, the quarterback is 36-years-old and would count $23.3 million against the salary cap in 2021.

Alex Smith Injury Update

“You’ve got to look at how much longer you think he can play, how much longer does he want to play?” Rivera said.

Washington is also expected to closely monitor the college quarterbacks for possible long-term solutions, even though Rivera said he has not written off Haskins yet.

Smith, who has been sacked 10 times in three games, has shown that his leg can withstand getting hit often.
“That was the scary part is how normal it felt [Sunday],” Smith said. “I’ve got to pinch myself how lucky I am to feel that way. I’m lucky to progress this far and that I am where I am.”

Rivera said he doesn’t want to get caught up in the emotion of Smith’s story as he considers the future.”You judge him by his performance,” Rivera said. “You don’t get caught up in his story, you don’t get caught up in his age. Now, when you talk about going forward, now you talk about these other things.”

Jake Luton to Start for Jaguars

The Jacksonville Jaguars announced that Jake Luton will start for them on Sunday. Jacksonville Jaguars rookie quarterback Jake Luton made his first career start against Houston in their last game after starter Gardner Minshew was ruled out because of a thumb injury.

Even though the Jaguars lost, Luton finished with 304 passing yards. One touchdown, and an interception. After the game, Jaguars coach Doug Marrone said he didn’t need to decide which quarterback to start against Green Bay this week. For the reason that Gardner Minshew still isn’t able to throw because of his thumb injury.

Marrone also told reporters that he liked a lot of what he saw from Luton on Sunday. Especially his ability to keep his eyes downfield when scrambling.

Jaguars Name Jake Luton as NFL Week 10 Starter

Jake Luton to Start for Jaguars

“So, when under duress, you see him still working to push the football down the field. And then, at the end of the game, you saw him have the ability to take off and go,” Marrone said. “So, I think those things go to one of the things that you look for, checking the boxes. I thought communication-wise, just his getting in and out. Not getting delays of game — a lot of that stuff happens early in someone’s career, you could have those situations. So, being able to spit the plays out, get everybody lined up. And then really, the two two-minute drives, especially the one at the end, he’s a guy that has zero work. We tried to get in some extra work with him on two-minute at the end of the day and I thought he really handled himself well throughout the four quarters.”

After Marrone announced that Luton will make his first career start against Houston. He said that there was no guarantee that Minshew would regain his starting job once his thumb injury healed.

Minshew has completed 65.9 % of his passes for 1,855 yards and 13 touchdowns with five interceptions this season.

A.J. Dillon positive covid test will have him miss tonight’s game. The Green Bay Packers will go into their Thursday Night Football matchup against the San Francisco 49ers without the services of rookie running back AJ Dillon. Placed on the reserve/COVID-19 list because of virus-related protocols.

The Packers announced a player has tested positive but did not identify the player.

“The Packers were informed today that a player has tested positive for COVID-19,” the team said in a statement on Monday. “Our organization has entered the NFL’s intensive protocol. Also, the player has self-quarantined. We will continue to work with the league on contact tracing as we follow the guidelines of intensive protocol. AJ Dillon Positive Covid

Dillon, who has 97 yards on 23 carries this season, played 10 snaps on offense and seven on special teams in Sunday’s loss to the Minnesota Vikings. As of Monday afternoon, the Vikings haven’t reported any positive tests among their players and staff. Yet.

Dillon’s positive test is the first positive test for a Packers player. Since August even though Green Bay has the highest 14-day average of cases per 100,000 people among all NFL cities, according to NFL Players Association data.

Since the Packers are playing on Thursday, NFL protocols require that Dillon miss the game. With Dillon out of the game, the Packers will likely be without two of their top three running backs if Aaron Jones doesn’t return from the injury that has forced him to miss the team’s last two games.

Cam Newton Patriots News

Will Cam Newton be the starting quarterback in NFL Week 8? Cam Newton Patriots news next. New England Patriots quarterback Cam Newton struggled in their game against San Francisco on Sunday, completing nine of 15 passes for 98 yards and three interceptions. His poor play led to head coach Bill Belichick benching him in the fourth quarter of their 33-6 loss.

On Monday, Newton said he is approaching this week as if his job is in jeopardy.

“The first thing I said to myself coming home was, ‘You keep playing games like that, bro, and it’s going to be a permanent change,'” Newton said Monday morning on Boston sports radio WEEI.

“You don’t need to tell me that for me to understand that. I get it loud and clear.”

After the game, Belichick had said he took Newton out of the game, with the Patriots trailing by 27 points, to give second-year quarterback Jarrett Stidham more experience. Belichick also said he’s “absolutely” sticking with Newton as his starter.

“For any type of competitor, do you feel embarrassed? Yeah,” Newton said Monday during the radio interview. “I don’t feel offended by what was done. I don’t feel offended having this type of conversation. I’m a realist.

“I don’t fear my position stability more so than controlling the locker room. Performances like yesterday jeopardizes [that]. It’s like, ‘Oh my God!’ Players talk, and that’s what’s most important to me. Knowing you have your coaches’ belief [is good], but my belief is that I want to have the whole facility. … It doesn’t start with no miraculous play. It’s a whole body of work that goes into performing on Sunday.”

Newton said after the game that he felt he was pressing too much. He explained what unfolded when Belichick pulled him from the game, saying he wasn’t surprised.

“I’m coachable,” Newton said. “I didn’t want to put up a [fight]. How bad would that have been? ‘No, I’m not coming [out]!’ He came and said, ‘Stidham is finishing’ and I agreed.

“Whatever type of way we have to motivate ourselves, I’m honest with myself. That leaves no type of miscommunication with others. When the change happened, I’m stuck on the sideline listening to plays and saying to myself, ‘Listen, is this really how you want to do things?’ Until you make that step to get better, then that’s what it’s going to be.”

New York Jets News

In the latest New York Jets news Gase is angry. New York Jets head coach Adam Gase has a lot on his plate with his team being the only winless team in the league. Even though he is used to the criticism from the fans, he wasn’t too happy to be criticized by his staff, which is what defensive coordinator Gregg Williams did when speaking to reporters Friday.

Secondly, after the team was shutout by the Miami Dolphins on Sunday, Gase addressed the comments made by Williams on Friday.

“I wasn’t happy about it, but we talked about it,” Gase said. “Right now, our players are doing such a good job as far as trying to get things righted. It’s just that everything we say, it matters. He understood that we have to set the right example.”

Williams was prompted by a reporter who noted the Jets were allowing 32 points per game. The defensive coordinator replied, “It’s not a very good number — and a lot of it’s not all defensively.”

Furthermore, when asked to elaborate, Williams said, “You’d have to figure it out.”

Gase first tried to downplay the comments, saying, “He was trying to talk about complementary football, all three phases playing together.” However, it did prompt Gase to call a meeting with Williams to discuss it.

“I felt like we were good after we talked,” Gase said.

Therefore, Williams isn’t the only one upset with the way the team is playing.

“We can’t wait to the f—ing fourth quarter,” running back Frank Gore said. “We can’t f—ing wait to the fourth quarter to f—ing wait to start playing ball.”

Despite being upset with the team’s performance, Gore defended the embattled Gase, claiming the problems aren’t scheme-related.

“We haven’t done anything well this year at all,” Gase said. “Also, we just hurt ourselves so much. Last year, we trended in the right direction. However, we improved. … This year, we have to figure out a way to improve really quickly, from top to bottom, coaches, players, it doesn’t matter, everybody. We have to get things better.”

Dan Quinn Fired by Falcons

The Atlanta Falcons have fired Dan Quinn. The Atlanta Falcons fell to 0-5 for the season after their loss to Carolina. Matching the worst start since 1997. A few hours after the loss, the team announced that head coach Dan Quinn and general manager Thomas Dimitroff have been fired.

“Decisions like these are very difficult. However, the previous two seasons and start to this one have been especially hard for me. Because of the deep love, admiration and respect I and my family have for Dan, Thomas and their families,” Falcons owner Arthur Blank said in a statement. “For many years, they have represented me, our team, organization and Atlanta with class, commitment and all the passion you would want in the leaders of the team.

“But as everyone knows, this is a results business. I owe it to our fans to put the best product we can on the field. We have poured every resource possible into winning and will continue to do so, but the results of late do not meet our standard or what I’ve promised our fans. Therefore, we will install new coaching and personnel leadership of the Atlanta Falcons at the appropriate time.”

Dan Quinn Fired by Falcons

Quinn was in his sixth season with the team and had a 43-42 record with the team. He led the Falcons to the Super Bowl in 2017, but could not regain that level of success, and the team finished with a 7-9 record in his last two seasons.

On Monday, team president Rich McKay, who will assume day-to-day oversight of football operations in the interim, announced that defensive coordinator Raheem Morris has been named the Atlanta Falcons’ interim head coach.

“Raheem is a strong leader and a talented coach that has adapted to a variety of roles since joining the Falcons in 2015,” said McKay in a statement. “He has experience as a head coach and has worked on both sides of the ball. We felt that combined with his connection to the players and coaching staff, which will be an important factor as we move forward in 2020, he was the right person to give this responsibility to.”

Houston Texans Fire Bill OBrien

It’s official, the Houston Texans fire Bill OBrien after a terrible start. On Sunday, the Houston Texans lost their fourth game in a row, which led a lot of fans to call for the team to replace head coach Bill O’Brien.

Despite the calls for his job, O’Brien acknowledged that he has to “do a better job coaching,” but he added that he can’t concern himself about his job status because he doesn’t “have any control” over that.

“All I can control is what I can control, and I’ve got to do a better job with the team,” O’Brien said Monday. “That’s obvious. And we’re going to work hard to do that.”

Even though many fans are complaining that the Texans struggling because of the offseason moves made by O’Brien, the most unpopular of which was his decision to trade Deandre Hopkins for David Johnson and a second round pick, the Texans had the toughest schedule through the first four weeks, playing the Kansas City Chiefs, Baltimore Ravens and Pittsburgh Steelers, before losing to the Minnesota Vikings in their last game.

Update on Houston Texans Fire Bill OBrien

Houston Texans Fire Bill Obrien

While fans are right about the Hopkins trade, because the team is dead last in rushing, averaging 73.5 yards per game, the Texans have a lot of issues that goes beyond that. They have the worst run defense in the league, giving up 181.8 rushing yards per game, they are also the only team that hasn’t forced a turnover through the first four games and need to do a better job protecting Deshaun Watson.

For his part, Watson said he won’t let the team’s 0-4 start get him down.

“At the end of the day, it is what it is,” Watson said. “We’re 0-4. We’ve just got to keep fighting, keep pushing forward, and that’s it. But for me personally, I’m not going to let it take my joy. I’m going to continue to live life, continue to work my ass off, continue to come in here every day and play football. It is what it is.

The 1992 San Diego Chargers were the last team to start the season 0-4 and make the playoffs.

NFL Betting Stats

Heading into Week 3 we look at the latest NFL betting stats along with NFL betting stats 2019. Past performance may not be a reliable indicator of future results. That being said, going over the data for past football games may provide clues. On how to fine tune your NFL betting strategies. Let’s take a look at the 2019 NFL season to see if we can get a clue as to where we can potentially spot some valuable betting trends.

Team That Didn’t Cover in 2019:

The Chicago Bears was the worst team in the NFL. In terms of covering the spread in 2019. With a record of 4-12 against the spread. The Bears only beat the spread 25% of the time. If the Bears do not improve this year, keep an eye on the spreads of their games. You may find a slam-dunk bet against them in 2020.

The LA Chargers were 4-9-3 against the spread. While tying the spread number 3 times could tip in either direction. The Chargers are expected to be a better team this year. With that in mind, the Chargers are expected to improve in 2020 with key additions on offense and defense. The Chargers may provide value on the point spread. This will be without Philip Rivers.

NFL Betting Stats 2019

NFL Betting Stats 2019

Teams That Covered Frequently in 2019:

It should be no surprise that the Kansas City Chiefs covered the spread more than any other team in 2019. Many analysts believe the Chiefs will continue to build upon their success. Therefore, they may end up seeing some huge point spreads in 2020. One of the more surprising things about the Chiefs if that they lost against the spread, at home, 3 times in 2019. Could the sportsbooks be giving the Chiefs too much credit at home?

Another team that covered frequently in 2019 is the Dallas Cowboys. Look specifically at the Cowboy’s divisional games and you’ll find that they covered the spread 5 out of 6 times in 2019. The Cowboys are largely staying in tact for 2020 so it might be worth looking at the Cowboys’ divisional games when you are looking for teams who frequently beat the spread.

Guide to NFL Betting Online Week 2

Today we sum up an expert guide to NFL betting online for NFL Week 2. The NFL can seem like one of the most unpredictable leagues to handicap each year. With a bit of research, you can beat the online sportsbooks. With sportsbooks offering more betting options than ever, you can bet specific outcomes in games that will keep your bankroll growing throughout the season. You might be wondering, what are some bets that you can add to your 2020 NFL handicapping playbook?

  • Player Prop Bets

With sports betting becoming less taboo in the United States, it isn’t uncommon to turn on your favorite sports radio station and hear the commentators talk about specific prop bet. Instead of betting on point spreads, perhaps you should turn your attention to betting on individual outcomes of player’s statistics. The good thing about this angle is that you can use fantasy sports knowledge that is widely available to your advantage to help you make some of these decisions.

  • Prop Parlay Bets

Not every sportsbook lets you parlay prop bets. At BetOnline.ag, their innovative sports betting platform lets you parlay individual prop bets in order to multiply your returns.

Think about this, let’s say you believe Todd Gurley will rush for over 200 yards against a weak rushing defense. You also believe that Cam Newton will rush for over 50 yards as QB. You could parlay these two wagers at BetOnline and multiply your return.

  • Live Sports Betting

One of the most innovative wagering features to become offered to players in recent years is the ability to bet during the course of the game. Various online sportsbooks will allow you to bet on the outcome of a specific play. For example, if its 1st and 10 and you believe your team will run the ball, many sportsbooks will give you live odds if you wish to bet on the specific outcome of a play. Live in-game sports betting options will only mature as the season progresses.

NFL Betting Rules

Looking to learn more about NFL betting rules plus officiating rules? The 2020 NFL season will introduce some rather intriguing rule changes. As a sports bettor, you should thoroughly examine these changes. To ensure that they do not impact your NFL betting strategy. Let’s dig a bit deeper into these changes. Also, critically think about how they should shape your wagering strategy.

Automatic Replay Rule:

During the offseason, the NFL changed the replay rule to include extra point and 2-point conversion tries.  Remember that? The rule also lets the officials review a scoring play. One that was negated by a foul or a penalty. This rule could tip the point total in either direction, so when you are handicapping a game, be cognizant about how many penalties the teams you are considering are committing each game.

Kick Offs and Punt Returns:

The NFL has amended the rule concerning the punt returner and the player tasked with returning kick offs. In the past, a player would need to waive his hand in the air to signal for a fair catch.

New Updates to NFL Betting Rules and Rule Changes

NFL Betting Rules 2021

While that’s still the case, the NFL has afforded additional protections to this player by allowing them more time to be a defenseless player. For example, if a player simultaneously catches the ball, doesn’t call for a fair catch and gets immediately tackled, they could be considered a defenseless player therefore earning the kickoff team a penalty.

Clock Manipulation with Multiple Dead Ball Fouls:

The Patriots notoriously manipulated the clock in a 2019 game where they kept getting dead ball fouls that caused the clock to continue to tick. This flaw in the NFL rule book allowed the Patriots to milk the clock, therefore putting their opponent at a disadvantage. The NFL has implemented a rule that prohibits teams from manipulating the clock with multiple dead ball fouls.

NFL Vetoed Clowney to Saints Deal

Did you hear? The NFL vetoed Clowney to Saints deal. Why? Find out below. The New Orleans Saints tried everything they could to land free-agent defensive end Jadeveon Clowney, but ultimately lost him to the Tennessee Titans, who signed him to a one-year deal.

However, head coach Sean Payton confirmed on Monday that they likely would have signed the coveted free agent. If the NFL hadn’t stepped in to prevent them from doing so.

The Saints had planned on having another team do a sign-and-trade deal for Clowney to help them fit his salary under the cap. Which is a common practice in the NBA. However, the NFL said such a deal would not be allowed.

“We felt like we got close,” Payton said. “We weren’t able to match the money. That’s one of the challenges each year, when you’re going after a player — what type of place do you have. [General manager] Mickey [Loomis] and [vice president of football administration] Khai [Harley] and those guys did a great job of really spending time with his representation. In the meantime, we had a good visit when we went out to see him.

Why Did the NFL Vetoed Clowney to Saints Deal

NFL Vetoed Clowney to Saints Deal

“And it was one thought, just creatively relative to, essentially, having a team sign a player, take some of the financial burden away from the team they trade him to, and essentially then get a draft pick back.”

Payton added that at first, the NFL’s reaction to the deal “was very positive; and then, ultimately, they decided against it. So we move forward.”

According to the NFL Network, the Saints were prepared to send a second-round pick and a player to the unspecified team. However, a source said it never got to the point of a finalized offer, since they reached out to the league for permission first.

NFL Week 1 Betting

NFL Week 1 betting is officially underway. The Kansas City Chiefs will kick off their title defense against the Houston Texans on Thursday Night Football. The game will be played at Arrowhead Stadium and is scheduled to kick off at 8:20 PM. ET.

Texans Preview –
The Texans were 10-6 last season. Good enough to win the AFC South. They defeated the Chiefs at Arrowhead during the regular season. However, lost to them in the Divisional round of the playoffs.

Houston’s offense will look a little different this season because they no longer have wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins, who was traded to Arizona for running back David Johnson. However, with a healthy Deshaun Watson under center, the Texans will have a chance to get the win.

Defensively, Houston gave up 24.1 points per game. They gave up 37.5 points per game to the Chiefs. Despite their defensive issues, they didn’t make any splashy moves in free agency and will likely struggle defensively in this game.

Chiefs Preview –
The defending Super Bowl champions enter the season with the best odds to win the Super Bowl and will be very tough to beat. They spent their offseason making sure their core will remain intact, giving long-term extensions to players like Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce.

They had one of the best offenses in the league last season. Averaging 28.2 points per game, and will once again be one of the best in the league because the team is returning 10 of 11 starters, after losing offensive guard Stefen Wisniewski to Pittsburgh during the offseason.

Defensively, the Chiefs are also returning 10 of 11 starters. With linebacker Reggie Ragland leaving for Detroit in free agency. With Andy Reid in charge expect the Chiefs to be the team to beat in the AFC this season. This is the case.

The Chiefs are favored to win this game by 9.5 points. They will win by more. The over/under on total points scored is 54.5. The Texans were embarrassed by the Chiefs in the playoffs and would love to get some payback in this game. However, they aren’t as good as they were last season and won’t be able to keep up with the Chiefs, who will go on to cover the spread. With the preseason being cancelled this season because of the coronavirus, expect to see a lot of rust so go with the under in this game.

Joe Burrow Bengals Starter News

Have you heard the latest news in Cincinnati? Joe Burrow Bengals starter possibly? Looks like it. Cincinnati Bengals head coach Zac Taylor has seen enough from rookie quarterback Joe Burrow in training camp and believes he is the best quarterback on the team.

Even though the rookie didn’t play as well as he did in the team’s first intrasquad scrimmage, Taylor said he has seen enough from the top overall draft pick for Burrow to be the team’s starter when they play the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 1.

“He’s just been impressive,” Taylor said. “He’s what we expected when we took him No. 1 overall. He hasn’t disappointed one day he’s been out there.”

Taylor praised Burrow for his offensive command, leadership in the huddle, an understanding of how to move the offense.
While his coach is happy with what he has seen so far, Burrow wasn’t very happy with his performance on Sunday and said it wasn’t as good as his previous scrimmage. The rookie said he didn’t execute as well as he wanted as the offense struggled to find its rhythm at times. However, Burrow said he’s continuing to improve.

“I feel more comfortable than I did last week, so I think my overall performance is still getting better,” Burrow said.
Since the preseason was cancelled this year, Burrow will have one more opportunity in a game-like setting before the Bengals open the season at home against the Chargers. Taylor said Thursday’s practice will be a mock game instead of a scrimmage.

“Probably the thing that gets him the most is when he thinks the error is his own and he doesn’t want to replicate the same mistake twice,” Taylor said. “But he’s a competitive guy, and we expect him to lead this offense to a lot of points.”

Jerry Jones Anthem Policy Kept a Secret

Have you heard the new Jerry Jones anthem policy? Nobody has. Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones has been vocal about his belief that players should stand for the national anthem. However, the team owner and general manager did not say if a policy will be in effect in 2020.

Jones told reporters that he had talked to a lot of people. Including President Donald Trump, a former president, and current and former players about what to do.

“We’re going to show grace. I’m going to show grace. And I’d like to show that kind of grace on a sensitive matter,” Jones said Wednesday, talking to the media for the first time in 109 days. “Everybody is genuine here. We’re giving everyone the benefit of the doubt relative to any decision that I make. Have one thing: My job is to run the Dallas Cowboys. The job is to do what’s right. We’ve asked for all of this interest. Also, we’ve asked for our players to give everything they’ve got.

“So I want to sit down when I have an issue. We have a decision to make. I want to show the world that I can do it with grace. Come up with the right solution. I don’t know what we’re going to be faced with here a month from now or two months from now. … Our players have always been open-eared for anything that I have to offer and I’ve been open-eared for what they have to offer, and that’s what we’ll do.”

Several players have been vocal about wanting Jones to have made a comment regarding the social unrest in the United States. Quarterback Dak Prescott said he looked at Jones’ silence from the owner’s perspective.

“He was trying to listen and gather everything he can before he came out and said his simple view. Because of his background and his beliefs, all that is different than a lot of other people,” Prescott said. “Not that he can’t relate, but it may be tough for him to relate to what other people may be going through right now. I don’t think he just wanted to speak with [urgency] and say something wrong. It’s tough.”

Online Sportsbooks for NFL Bets

If there is an NFL season this year then here are online sportsbooks for NFL bets.

Even though the NFL has had months to prepare for the start of the season amid the coronavirus pandemic. Los Angeles Rams head coach Sean McVay does not believe NFL training camps will start on Schedule next week. He may be right.

“Usually when you get about a week out, and right now that’s exactly where we’re at. You start to get revved up. Starting to get excited,” McVay said. “And there’s something about this time that you know the amount of things that have to take place for that to logistically get off. Also, get going, something about it tells me maybe there’s a chance that things get moved back.”

NFL veterans are required to report to camp on July 28. With quarterbacks and rookies reporting a few days earlier. However, the league and NFL Players Association have yet to formalize a plan for health and safety procedures pertaining to the coronavirus pandemic, which some players have expressed concern about.

Even though the preseason has been reduced from four games to two. The NFLPA union board of player representatives voted unanimously Friday in recommending that the preseason be canceled altogether. As of today all preseason games have been cancelled. The NFLPA won.

Even though he is skeptical that the training camps will start on time. McVay believes the regular season will still take place.

“What I’ve been telling our people is, ‘Hey, we’re going to have a great plan. Whether we get a chance to execute that plan now or a little bit later remains to be seen,”’ McVay said. “But I am confident we will have a season, we’ll be able to play football. Dak Prescott Franchise Tag

It’s starting to look like Dak Prescott franchise tag rumors are legit. The Dallas Cowboys and quarterback Dak Prescott have until Wednesday to come to terms on a long-term deal. However, it is unlikely that the two sides will come to an agreement on a new deal by then because there are no scheduled talks between the Cowboys and Prescott’s agent Todd France.

Even though things can change between now and then, it is unlikely that the two sides will come to an agreement on a long-term deal in less than 48 hours considering how slow negotiations have gone between the two sides since last offseason.

After months of negotiation, Prescott signed the exclusive franchise tag tender worth $31.4 million on June 22 that guaranteed he would not miss any of training camp. However, if they don’t agree to a deal by 4 p.m. ET Wednesday, Prescott will have to play the season on the tag and the sides can’t talk again about a long-term deal until January.

Dallas Cowboys Dak Prescott Franchise Tag News

Dak Prescott Franchise Tag

If the Cowboys use the franchise tag on Prescott after the season, he will make $37.7 million in 2021. However, he will be less likely to sign a contract extension with the team if they use the tag on him in consecutive years.

According to reports, the biggest hang up between the two sides during contract negotiations was the length of the new deal.

The Cowboys have offered Prescott five-year deals, while France has countered with four-year options.

In March, Dallas offered Prescott a deal that averaged $34.5 million, which was second to Russell Wilson’s $35. The deal also reportedly had a guarantee of $110 million, which is similar to what Los Angeles Rams quarterback Jarred Goff received last summer.

However, with Patrick Mahomes agreeing to a 10-year deal worth $503 million, Prescott’s asking price will likely go up, especially if he leads the Cowboys back to the Super Bowl this season.

David Njoku Trade Request From Browns

Cleveland Browns tight end David Njoku has requested that the Browns trade him before the start of training camp. This David Njoku trade request is not surprising.

The 23-year-old tight end, who was selected with the 29th pick in the 2017 NFL Draft, played in only four games last season. This after suffering a concussion. Also, a broken wrist in Week 2. Finishing the year with five receptions for 41 yards and one touchdown.

During the 2018 season he had 56 catches for 639 yards and four touchdowns.

Despite the limited action he saw last season, the Browns had been impressed with his performance. Since he joined the team and announced in April that they would exercise Njoku’s fifth-year option. An option worth $6.4 million. That’s a hefty sum.

While the Browns have expressed interest in keeping him on the team, Njoku is not sure Cleveland is the right fit for him anymore. This after the team spent the offseason adding depth to the position by signing Pro Bowl tight end Austin Hooper to a four-year, $44 million deal with $23 million guaranteed in March, and drafting Harrison Bryant in the fourth round of the 2020 draft.

Rumors of David Njoku Trade

David Njoku Trade Request

Even though new tight end coach Kevin Stefanski believes all three players will get significant playing time, Njoku doesn’t feel he will get enough touches and wants to play on a team that will put his talent to good use.

“It is in David’s best interest to find a new team at this time,”‬ Njoku’s agent Drew Rosenhaus said.

With the Browns having Njoku under contract for another year, the team likely won’t be in a rush to trade their young tight end. Especially if there is an injury at the position during training camp. Anything is possible. However, if Hooper plays as well as he did last year and Bryant emerges as a quality backup, the Browns will likely grant Njoku his wish. Where will Njoku land?

Joe Burrow Waiting to Sign Bengals Contract

Cincinnati Bengals rookie quarterback Joe Burrow hasn’t signed a contract with the team. This since he was selected with the number one overall pick in last month’s NFL draft. What’s Bengals contract?

Even though he is eager to sign a deal with the team, Burrow hasn’t signed the deal. For the reason that he is being cautious due to the spread of the coronavirus. Really?

Yes. “We’re just waiting to see what happens over the next three months. Because we really don’t know.” Burrow said Friday on the “Pardon my Take” podcast.

When he eventually signs the new deal, Burrow is projected to receive a $23.9 million signing bonus from the Bengals. Talk about a huge bonus!

Like Burrow, other high first-round picks are expected to take longer to sign than usual this year. Furthermore, because of the pandemic and the potential revenue losses that could result.

Will Joe Burrow Sign Bengals Contract?

Joe Burrow Bengals Contract

Even though there is no concern that any of the deals won’t eventually get done. It is possible that some would want to hold on to signing bonus money a little bit longer than they would in a normal year due to the uncertainty with teams as they build their budgets with the potential for lost stadium and TV revenue in mind.

Firstly, Burrow’s contract situation hasn’t affected his preparation for the upcoming season. During a virtual teleconference with local reporters on Friday, head coach Zac Taylor said the team worked with the rookies last weekend. Instead of the traditional minicamp, for instance.

Secondly, Burrow was drafted #1. “We got three days with the rookies,” Taylor said, “so we got a chance to bring them up to speed on the things they’ve missed the week before with the veterans.” Many are also concerned when the season will start, for example. Will it be on time?

For his part, Burrow is glad that the draft is over. Also, is more than ready to get on the field.

“It was more along the lines of relief, you know, ‘I’m glad this is over, let’s finally start to get back to football,'” Burrow said on the podcast. “Instead of talking, we can get back on the field. Hopefully soon.”

Betting on NFL Houston Texans

The Houston Texans shocked a lot of NFL insiders thus improving their betting on NFL odds. This was when they decided to trade All-Pro wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins to the Arizona Cardinals. Trade for David Johnson, a second round pick in this year’s draft and a fourth round pick in the 2021 draft.

After shipping Hopkins off to Arizona, the Houston Texans signed veteran receiver Randall Cobb to replace him. Was this a good move?

“I think obviously with DeAndre [Hopkins] leaving, it’s going to be a lot of eyes on all three of us [wide receivers Will Fuller, Kenny Stills and Cobb] to step up and make some plays,” Cobb said in a teleconference with Houston media. “In particular me, because a lot of people are looking at me coming in and being a replacement, even though me and DeAndre are two totally different types of receivers.”

Cobb, who played for the Dallas Cowboys last season, had 55 catches for 828 yards. Also, and three touchdowns in 15 games. He will give the Texans a reliable slot receiver. Which is a position the Texans have struggled to fill since head coach Bill O’Brien was hired in 2014.

Betting On NFL Houston Texans

Cobb said he signed with the Houston Texans. For the reason that he will have the opportunity to do things similar to what he did when he played for Green Bay. Where he spent his first eight seasons, and the opportunity to play with Deshaun Watson.

“The reason I picked the Texans is obviously you look at what they’ve been able to do over the past few years.” Cobb said. “Went to the playoffs four of the past five times. At this point in my career, I still don’t have a ring. So I want to be in a situation where I have that possibility. And I think when you look at Deshaun [Watson] and what he’s been able to do since he’s been in the league.

“I’ve been really impressed from afar. Watching him. He has tremendous ability, and he’s a winner. He’s won at every level. … I think he has that ability to take us to a Super Bowl. Also, I want to be a part of something special with him.”

Chargers Quarterback Doesn’t Plan On Retiring

With only one game left in the regular season, Los Angeles Chargers quarterback Philip Rivers, who is in the final year of his contract and 16th season in the league, can’t seem to avoid questions about his future.

After the team’s loss to the Oakland Raiders on Sunday, Rivers was once again asked about his plans after the season ends and told reporters he plans to continue playing.

“I’m capable enough physically and mentally, there’s no question,” Rivers said after the game. “Yes, I do want to play football. I do, and that’s how I feel deep down as I stand here.”

Rivers added that he will talk it over with his family and noted that the Chargers quarterback front office has the final say.

“There’s a lot of factors,” Rivers said. “There’s a personal side and family side to mine. I’m going to have a daughter in college as well, too. So time is ticking, and I’ve got a sixth-grade son that I’ve got to get ready to coach at some point, so there’s all kinds of factors.”
“But I know I can still do it, and I know I can still do it at a high enough level for us to win. I have not done it well enough this year, but I still do love to play, and love to lead these guys and this team.

L.A. Chargers Quarterback Hunt On?

Chargers Quarterback Philip Rivers

It’s been an array of things that have compounded, to keep us from winning enough games to advance into the tournament.”

Even though he has thrown 24 interceptions this season, Rivers believes he still has all the physical tools to be a starting quarterback.

“It’s probably human nature when you’re 38 and you throw some interceptions in games and they don’t go the way you want them to, that it can become, and that’s what people say: ‘You can’t make the throw you used to make’ or ‘You can’t do this’ — arm strength and all of that,” Rivers said.

“And just none of that is true. I’ve made some throws this year that have been as good as throws that I’ve made in any years of my career, but I’m not here to sell that. So physically and what I’m able to do as the Chargers quarterback is just what I was able to do last year when we were rolling and having one of our best years. Even in some of these games the last few weeks, we’ve had some really good plays offensively.”

Tannehill did not look impressive last season because he was coming off a missed season, but if he plays like he did before his 201 injury, should be more than capable of filling in if Mariota goes down again.

Tennessee lost guards Josh Kline and Quinton Spain, but they picked up Rodger Saffold and selected Nate Davis in the third round of the draft, hoping he can become a starter at some point. They also added some depth at the wide receiver position by signing Adam Humphries and selecting A.J. Brown in the second round of the draft.

The Titans defense gave up 18.9 points per game last season, which was third best in the league. The team will be bring most of their starters from last season with the exception of linebacker Brian Orokpo, who decided to retire after failing to finish another season healthy. Currently the Titans do not have favorable 2020 Super Bowl odds.

If Tennessee’s defense holds up like it did last year, they will be a tough team to beat. If their offense is significantly better than it was last season, they will have a good chance of winning the division and getting back into the playoffs. However, the team will need Mariota health and at his best to have a chance. The Titans 2020 Super Bowl odds are +7000.

Everyone is expected to be accountable. They don’t make any exceptions. I’ve discussed this with Antonio. And he wants to be a Patriot. He’s honored with the opportunity and he’s looking forward to taking advantage of it.”
